Title: What’s Hot in Travel Right Now: Insights from Your Friendly UK Travel Agent
Hello, lovely travellers! 👋
Over the past few months, I’ve noticed some exciting trends taking shape in the world of travel. Whether you're dreaming of sipping cocktails on a sun-soaked beach, hiking through misty mountain trails, or soaking up culture in a buzzing city, there’s something for everyone right now - you really can travel your way. So, grab a cuppa and let’s chat about what’s popular right now and where Brits are heading in 2026!
✈️ Trend #1: The Rise of "Slow Travel"
Gone are the days of racing through 5 countries in 7 days, whatever Race Across The World might try to convince you. More of you are embracing the idea of slow travel—taking the time to really experience a place, its people, food, and culture. Think: Tuscany farm stays with homecooked food, great wine and lazy strolls through the hills, Scottish Highlands road trips with incredible scenery, whisky tastings and quirky villages, or a week-long break in one charming Spanish village eating tapas, drinking sherry and soaking up the local traditions instead of trying to fit three cities into one holiday.
It’s all about quality over quantity—and honestly, I love it. It’s better for the environment, better for your stress levels, and gives you those deeper, more meaningful memories.
🌍 Trend #2: Off-the-Beaten-Path is the New Luxury
With popular destinations getting over- crowded, and the traditioanl beach holiday (fly and flop) falling out of favour with many, lots of travellers are choosing lesser-known spots. Instead of Santorini, how about Naxos? Instead of the Amalfi Coast, try Puglia. Here in the UK, clients are loving quieter Welsh coastal villages and lesser-known Cotswolds gems.
And let me tell you: these “hidden gems” often mean fewer queues, more authentic experiences, and yes—better value for your money!
Excorted tours are also proving to be a hit in this area, giving people access to far flung places they'd never go under their own steam. Borneo, Ecuador, India, African safaris, Costa Rica, South America...you name it, you can go, at almost any age.
🏡 Trend #3: A Boom in “Workcations”
Since hybrid work is here to stay for many of us, we’re seeing a huge rise in “workcations.” Think stylish hotels in Lisbon, villas in the South of France, balconies in Greece where you can crank up the laptop and work in the morning and hit the beach or explore in the afternoon.
If you're your own boss (or you have a flexible employer) and are okay with a bit of time-zone juggling, why not stretch out your trip and actually live and breathe somewhere dreamy for a week or two?
🌿 Trend #4: Sustainable & Ethical Travel
I'm thrilled to see more people asking questions like: “Does this hotel support the local community?” or “What’s the carbon footprint of this trip?”. More and more travellers are booking eco-conscious accommodation, choosing trains over flights when possible, and looking for meaningful cultural experiences rather than cookie-cutter excursions.
Trust me—travel can be a force for good, and your choices really do matter.
💻 Trend #5: Booking with Humans (Yes, Really!)
Here’s a fun one: more people are coming back to travel agents. After the chaos of the past few years (hello, last-minute cancellations, confusing entry rules, freak weather issues causing disruptions!), travellers are realising how valuable it is to have a real person helping out when the preverbial hits the fan. Someone who knows the ropes, can find those little extras, can get the fixes in place if needed and is just a phone call away if things go sideways, is worth its weight in gold.
So if you’ve been DIYing your holidays but want a bit less stress next time, or want the security of having someone to pick up the slack for you -come have a chat. Travel agents are not going anywhere!
🏖️ Top Trending Destinations for Summer 2025
Just in case you're looking for inspiration, here are a few destinations that are lighting up my bookings calendar:
Japan – With borders open and the yen still fairly weak, now’s a great time to explore this fascinating country.
Albania – Affordable, stunning coastline, and fewer crowds than its Mediterranean neighbours. Some say it's like the Greek Islands before they got overcrowded and touristy.
The Scottish Highlands – A big hit with families and couples looking to stay in the UK but still get away from it all.
Vietnam – Foodie heaven with breathtaking scenery and traditions around every corner—and it’s great value, too.
African Safaris - getting into the wilderness and seeing amazing wildlife, birds and traditional life in its true surrounds. Solos, families and couples are all enjoying this once in a lifetime experience.
Whether you're ready to plan your next adventure or just daydreaming for now, I’m here to help make your travel dreams a reality. Pop me a message, or book in a chat —I'm always up for a good travel planning natter. ✨
Here’s to your next unforgettable journey!
